January 8th, 2018
One of the most serene places in Orange County is the Upper Newport Nature Preserve in Newport Beach. Only a short drive from 580 Anton, this pristine, natural oasis is the ideal setting for an invigorating jog, walk, hike, bike ride, horseback riding, bird watching, or relaxing moment away from the world. This scenic and expansive setting is home to the California Gnatcatcher, San Diego Cactus Wren, Burrowing Owl and rare/endangered species such as the Light Footed Clapper Rail, Brown Pelican, Belding’s Savannah Sparrow, Black Rail, Peregrine Falcon and California Least Tern. Native and endangered plant species also thrive here. Breathtaking panoramic views include the bluffs, sparkling water, marshes, wildflowers, and rolling hills. Check out the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center there to learn more about the ecosystem with expert docents and interactive exhibits for all ages. Newport Dunes Resort is also close for waterfront recreation including kayaking, swimming, pedal boats, sailing, and more.
